I finally got around to watching Daredevil Born Again, this show was on my list from the moment it was announced and it was said that the original cast from Netflix series will be returning. But then last year news started to come out that Disney was trying to make too many changes to the show and rumours also coming out that show was looking very poor in its early drafts. But then came the saving grace that Kevin Feige himself started to look into the show and basically shelved whatever the footage had been shot. This delayed the show by 1 year and involved shooting many episodes again and resetting a few storylines.
I am glad that happened but it also made the current season a little underwhelming. You could see different visions in the stories. It was clear that they didn't reshoot the full thing again. They just tried to redo enough scenes that the story could be changed a bit. I would have loved if they would have taken some more time and scrapped the whole thing to make it from scratch again.
The show starts strong with establishing Deadshot as the main big bad for the season and Fisk doing his own thing and setting himself up. But in between show just stops and moves in the direction of another villain and focuses on him. Which felt the weakest link of the story.
There are two episodes of courtroom drama too which were not as painful to sit through as the other villain storyline. All in all this felt like 3 different stories from 3 different people coming together to merge for this season. As the saying goes, "Too many cooks spoil the broth". I still will not call it completely spoiled because Daredevil is one of my favourite superheroes and to see him in action at all on screen is always a treat. There are enough elements in the show to keep you interested and hooked.
I really missed the way Daredevil fights and this season the fights were very sparsely used, but when they do happen, they were absolutely crazy good. You could see that Disney had put more budget into the season compared to Netflix, but the Netflix choreography was way better.
I do feel that the season just ended up being a big setup for the Season 2 which will be much better threaded since it will have Kevin Feige looking over it from beginning. And they have set up quite a few story points to pick up from in next season. I am also hearing the shooting for most of it has also been completed and we should get next season as early as next year.
I don't have much to say about this season just that, It had few different storylines cooked together into it, It had great fight scenes, It was lovely to see all the original cast come back and act the way we love. And I am really really looking forward to the next season.
